Your Life Plan

The template I use with the men I coach, so your vision doesn't end up as just a nice idea

1Before you start

"In strategic planning you have to follow up. If you don't, it just stays a very, very nice idea. Your life works the same way. Following up on my plan takes me two, three hours a month. That's it. How much time do we spend on social media or watching a series?"

You already wrote your vision on Days 21 through 30. This gift is the system to sustain it: the same Excel template I use with the men I coach, where your vision comes down into goals, measurable initiatives and your calendar.

I'll use this email to send you more useful material, updates and new tools from the book.

2Your first draft (10 minutes worth a year)

"Nobody is grading this. It's like the gym: the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Write a first draft. Then AI and the spreadsheet will help you sharpen it."
"Picture a magazine running a feature about you ten or twenty years from now. What does the headline say? And what are the two or three big numbers that prove you're actually doing it?"
"To get there, what do you have to work on THIS year? In your personal life, your professional life and your spiritual life. The spiritual part is how you're going to serve others in this world."

3Your template and how to use it

Download it and open it in Excel or Google Sheets. It's your complete life file: don't fill it out all at once. You build it in layers.

1

IDENTITY and VISION. Paste in what you just wrote: your timeline from Connect the Dots (Day 10), your temperament (Day 20), your purpose, your epitaph and your horizons.

2

GOALS. Break your vision down into no more than 5 goals per area (Personal · Professional · Spiritual), each with initiatives that carry a NUMBER and a frequency. "If you can't put a number on it, fine. But try."

3

LOG. Every month: its Target and its Actual. This is your logbook, just like mine: "I keep recording my high points and my low points to see what I'm learning."

4

MONTHLY and DASHBOARD. This is where you READ your progress: a traffic light for each area of life, the month, the year and your purpose. Three numbers before anything else.

5

ANNUAL & WEEKLY PLAN. "You have to do the whole exercise UNTIL IT LANDS ON YOUR CALENDAR." Your big bets for the year and your typical week.

The golden rule: you edit in GOALS · you record in LOG · you read in MONTHLY and DASHBOARD

The ritual: 15 minutes a week to record, and one deeper review each month. Two, three hours a month. That's it.

4Your complete plan with AI

This prompt carries YOUR draft. Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: it will sharpen your purpose, turn your goals into measurable initiatives ready to paste into the GOALS sheet and help you put them on your calendar.

Tip: when the AI gives you your initiatives, copy them into the GOALS sheet that same day. What doesn't land in the file evaporates.

It's not your stuff. It's your time.

"It's not your cars, it's not your houses, it's not your job: it's your time. If you didn't use it as quality time with what you love, we threw it in the trash. Period. My calendar is the most important thing I have: that's where you see whether you're moving toward your purpose or away from it."
